Bellaggio

Definitely the best known village of Lake Como in the world. In a strategic position, or at the point where the three branches of the Lake meet: the north (towards Colico), the south-east (towards Lecco) and the south-west (towards Como). The “contrade” (typical narrow streets) of the historic center are beautiful and beautiful are the villas and the gardens that populate the area. Elegant shops, romantic restaurants and bar with terraces where you can enjoy the wonderful view and a good drink. Naturally always very crowded, but this will not prevent you from enjoying this corner of paradise without haste. Only advice, if you can do not go by car.

Bellano

Located in a strategic position: reached by the railway, the ss36 highway, the navigation of the lake. Bellano, while retaining the historic center, does not convey the typical relaxed and ancient atmosphere of the lakeside villages. It lives its modernity, without extirpating its roots and local culture. You will find many restaurants, shops, bars, ice cream shops and a large beach equipped. Do not visit it if your stay is short, it is certainly not a “must see”. Yes, visit it, if you have more time available and you want spend a more lively day or simply want to replenish your food storage.

From Perledo the best way to go to Bellano is going to Varanna railway station and take the train (5 min) or take the Bus line D21 (stop at Bar Milano). Other possibility is take a boat at Varenna pier. If you have a car is very easy and fast reach Bellano, the only problem: find parking.

If you love walk, you can’t miss go to Bellano using the path “Sentiero del Viandante”, starting directly to Casa Valeria. Take a look  to the path description or directly download the .gpx track.

Colico

The main town in the north area of the lake. Door to enter in Val Chiavenna and Valtellina… that means door to Alps! Lot of interesting places to visit and important centre for sports activities, in particulary water sport like windsurf, kitesurf, sail boats, etc…

From Perledo the best way to go to Colico is going to Varanna railway station and take the train (25 min). Other possibility is take a boat at Varenna pier. If you have a car is very easy and fast reach Colico or along the road SP72 or with the haighway SS36 entering in Bellano.

Como

The most important city on the lake from which it takes its name. Its history over a thousand years and for this there are lot of monuments and museums to visit. Secular is its tradition of silk processing. Como is very nice and deserve to be visited also just to stroll or sit at bar table on the lakeside and relax.

From Perledo the best way to go to Como is take a boat at Varenna pier. Our suggestion is take the fast service (“hydrofoil”) on the outward journey and return more calmly enjoying the view of the places surrounding the lake from a different perspectiveis. Is also possible use the train (Varenna-Lecco-Como), but a change is needed and almost two hours of time or with your car ( Varenna- Lecco – Como – 1h 15 min – 58 Km) driving on road SP72 then SS36 and then SP342.

Lecco

Nestled between lake and mountains. Famous for being one of the places where one of the most famous novels of Italian literature was set: “I Promessi Sposi” by Alessandro Manzoni. Second most populous city on the lake, after Como, with a more productive than tourist vocation, even if there is no shortage of museums and interesting places to visit. In spring and summer time, it’s stormed by motorbikers of which it’s a favorite destination as a refreshment and meeting point. The lakeside promenade is long and delightful.

From Perledo the best way to go to Lecco is going to Varanna railway station and take the train (25 min). Other possibility is take a boat at Varenna pier. If you have a car is very easy and fast reach Leccoor along the road SP72.

Menaggio

One of the most beautiful and touristic developed villages of the lake. There are many places to visit and attractions, including its historic center. It is one of the four landing places for the ferry, so you can also easily reach it by car across the lake. In just twenty minutes you can reach Lake Lugano in Italian territory (Porlezza) and only 40 minutes to get to Lugano in Switzerland.

Tremezzina

Tremezzina is the union of some municipalities and a territory between Griante and Sala Comacina. It has always been an elegant and prestigious tourist destination. Its gardens and villas are beautiful. Its history is rich. In its territory there is also the only island of the lake: “Isola Comacina”.
